The Directors have extensive support staff and systems and we place a strong emphasis on team work, both within the firm and with clients. A strong element in our effectiveness is that the majority of our staff have been with us for over ten years and know our clients and our systems very well. A partner is always directly responsible to clients for the performance of their work and Directors are always covered during absences.

We believe that we are well placed to offer a responsive first line support service to local businesses. Our size makes us friendly and responsive and offers adequate resources for over 90% of needs. In the event that resources are not sufficient to cover a particular case, then we have resort to the usual range of support services. Our size and situation tends to produce a fee structure significantly lower than that prevailing in London or the larger provincial centres.

We act for a number of regional charities and several of our Directors are charity trustees.

We are ISO 9001 registered.

We do not undertake publicly funded legal work and Legal Aid is not available.

Our History

The practice is an amalgamation of the old firms of Gardiner and Millhouse (founded in 1960) and Bartlett Walters and Parry (founded in 1750) who merged their practices in 1980. The new firm then moved to its present purpose-built premises.
